New Moon, who dis?

Updated: Aug 21, 2021

For all of you folks living in the United States, the New Moon will be May 11, 2021. It is a New Moon in Taurus. Now if you are deep into astrology you are going to know all about what this means, but for those of you who just starting, here is some information:

✨Key Message: Don't stress and just keep going and following your heart and intuition.✨

The moon has different phases. A new moon happens when the earth lines up with the sun, making it look all but invisible from where you're standing. There are usually 12 new moons a year, and each new moon is linked to a different astrological sign. This new moon is in Taurus and it’s all about you being in control. Like, you will not be told what to do, whether it’s coming from your know-it-all coworker or your partner in the bedroom. At the same time, you’ll probably just want to kick back and enjoy life. Basically, everything from having an impromptu picnic with your buddies in the park to binge-watching tv. If it brings you joy, do it.

New Moons always provide us with an opportunity for a new emotional start in the areas associated with the sign. This time, we are focused on Taurus, which is a fixed earth sign. The higher expression of the sign of the bull is associated with being down-to-earth, responsible, resourceful, reliable, patient, and loyal. The lower expression can include being overly materialistic, strong-willed, and cautious.

The bull is also known for being resistant to change. This is partly because Taurus is very focused on security issues. Its life is spent enjoying all the pleasures of its pasture through the use of its five senses. Anything that disrupts this can be perceived as a threat to its goal of a peaceful, enjoyable lifestyle. A simple life is preferred. If change is needed, it usually requires a major “kick in the butt” in order for the bull to be willing to disturb this tranquil scene.

This new moon will encourage you to take better care of and speak up for yourself. You do a lot in your life to take care of other people, like helping friends move and doing little favors for your partner but, sometimes, you’ve just gotta take care of you.

At the time of the Taurus New Moon, we shouldn’t worry if the goal isn’t completely clear yet. Change can be messy, and we may not feel like we have all the pieces of the puzzle in place yet. To support us in sorting this all out, there are numerous aspects occurring at the time of the New Moon. These may provide us some insights into what might need to change or how any changes might unfold:

✨The Sun and Moon in Taurus are in a square (90°) to Jupiter in Aquarius. Although the Taurean influence may increase our stubborn desire to not change, the square and Aquarian presence may mean that we are feeling restricted in some way and need to change something in order to break free of some restraints. This may require that we have to face “reality,” which can be sobering. However, we may also be able to see how to solve any problems, as long as we are willing to change directions.

✨ Luckily, the Sun and Moon are also in a supportive trine (120°) to transformational and healing Pluto in grounded Capricorn This will likely help us curtail any out-of-control enthusiasm, sort out any reality checks, eliminate anything that isn’t necessary anymore, and make realistic, responsible decisions regarding any new directions.

✨ Mercury and Venus in Gemini are conjunct (0°) the North Node and therefore in opposition (180°) to the South Node. This likely means that we are thinking (Mercury) about something we desire (Venus) in the future (North Node) that probably will require us to let go of something that belongs in the past (South Node).

✨ Mars is also squaring (90°) Chiron. We are being asked to move beyond our wounds and any tendency to play the victim role. If we can find a way to embrace our vulnerability and reframe it as a strength, we may find the courage to take actions toward healing long-standing issues.
